WOW! Progress from our elected officials!

After 18 months of hard work by community groups and the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, the Department of City Planning finally agreed on Monday to the rezoning of the Far West Village that we've been pushing for over the past 18 months.

This would never have happened without the residents of our great neighborhood coming together at meetings, signing petitions, and sending letters to show our Community Board 2 and elected officials how strongly the community was united behind the rezoning effort.

Andrew Berman and his staff at the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation deserve a huge vote of thanks from us for providing invaluable guidance, expertise, and support each step of the way. GVSHP has provided answers to some common questions as to what this City Planning decision means. See http://www.gvshp.org/_gvshp/preservation/fwv/fwv-11-20-09.htm

You’ll see that there are public hearings coming up and an environmental assessment still to be done. We'll let residents know when further action is needed.

Thanks for all the hard work everyone has done to get us this far.
